With a whole day dedicated to eggs, the countdown to World Egg Day is on with an entirely free pop-up restaurant devoted to serving up the Aussie staple.
Nominated by the public and hand-picked by Manu Feildel (pictured), the finalist restaurants that will be dishing up the goods include:
The Bosphorus Benedict by Rustic Pearl, Surry Hills (NSW) – Poached eggs on sourdough with Bay lobster, smashed avocado, house hollandaise, fresh shiso, golden sesame and chilli.
Turkish poached eggs by Mount Street Breakfast Bar, West Perth (WA) – Fresh dill and cucumber yogurt with poached eggs, herby chimichurri sauce and nutty spicy Aleppo butter with crispy sourdough bread.
Awarma and egg pizza by Yum Yum Bakery, Guildford (NSW) – Confit lamb, topped with a runny sunny-side up egg, baked on a warm flat bread dough with a light sprinkle of zaatar.
Beef carpaccio, fried truffle egg, rocket, pecorino by Grain of the Silos, Invermay (TAS) – Grass fed beef carpaccio, crumbed, fried truffle egg, pecorino, rocket.
These top four dishes will be plated up across four sittings over lunch and dinner on the eve of World Egg Day, 10th October.
Tickets to the pop-up are free, so get in quick before they’re gone.
Founded by Australian Eggs, the Eggsellence Awards celebrate the joy of cracking eggs for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The inaugural pop-up restaurant will see diners vote for their favourite dish to be crowned the best in Australia.
The 2019 winning dish will be announced at 9am AEDT on World Egg Day, Friday 11th October.
“With so many amazing nominated restaurants and cafes, helping Australian Eggs pick the top four wasn’t easy! Without a doubt, our finalists will do eggs justice with their incredible meals. Now we leave it in the hands of voters to crown their winner,” Manu Feildel said.
“We’re thrilled to have diners in the centre of the voting action this year, bringing them the joy of eggs and inspiring them through the versatility of the humble egg,” managing director of Australian Eggs Rowan McMonnies said
“We congratulate the finalists and can’t wait to see who will take out the win.”
The four finalists’ dishes will be showcased at an exclusive d-egg-ustation pop-up restaurant in Sydney on October 10th.
To be part of the pop-up restaurant and get a chance to taste each of the dishes, get your free ticket to your preferred seating via Eventbrite.
Be quick, before they’re gone!
